Is your home’s exterior completely outdated? Wondering if it’s time to move or if a renovation could bring it back to life and increase its curb appeal?
A well-planned exterior renovation can give your home a modern, remarkable, and low-maintenance look that enhances curb appeal and long-term durability.
Transform Your Front Windows for a Modern Look
Older Edmonton homes often feature outdated bay windows with wooden frames and multiple obstructive panels. While they may have been stylish at the time, nowadays modern homes favour cleaner lines, better insulation, and lower-maintenance materials.
A great example of a modern upgrade we did for our ‘Lessard Exterior Renovation Project‘ is swapping out an old five-panel bay window for a single, wide opening that allows more natural light to flood the space. This renovation instantly enhanced the home’s curb appeal, improved energy efficiency with triple-pane glass, and eliminated the client’s need for constant upkeep.
In addition to the window upgrade, removing dated brick arches and replacing them with metal-clad beams can add a striking architectural detail. We often use Lux steel panels for these accents, a modern, zero-maintenance product that provides the warmth of wood without the hassle of staining or sealing.

Balance Curb Appeal and Cost by Combining Siding Products
Choosing the right mix of siding materials can give your home a modern, balanced look while keeping costs and maintenance lower. In this exterior renovation, we combined James Hardie Plank and Board & Batten siding with PVC shakes and Lux steel cladding. This blend of textures and materials not only enhances curb appeal, but also adds depth and warmth to the exterior.
By mixing premium materials where they have the most impact, like the front facade, and using cost-effective options, like vinyl siding, in less visible areas, homeowners can achieve a remarkable finish without exceeding their budget.

Update Your Front Door for a Remarkable (and Secure) Entryway
Your front door is more than just the entryway you use every day. It’s a statement piece that enhances curb appeal and improves security.
In this Ritchie exterior renovation, we upgraded the home’s front entry and overhead garage doors, incorporating modern designs with strategic window placement to bring in natural light. The new fiberglass front door featured an aesthetic vertical window, adding a contemporary touch and brightening the entryway. For added security, we added adjustable hinges and a multi-point locking system for a snug, durable fit that withstands Edmonton’s climate.
A well-planned front door upgrade blends style, security, and function, creating a remarkable first impression for every guest that enters your home.
The garage door follows the same design principles, with horizontal windows that let plenty of natural light into the garage.

Use Bold Contrasts for a Striking Exterior
One of the simplest ways to modernize your home’s exterior is by playing with contrast. Instead of sticking to a single siding material or colour, combining different textures and tones can create a modern, high-end look that makes your home stand out.
For this Parkview Exterior Project, we used a mix of materials to enhance visual interest while tying the exterior to the existing mid-century modern interior. We used Lux steel panels to add warmth with a wood-like finish that’s easy to maintain, Hardie panels with an easy-trim grid for a crisp, modern entryway, and white Board and Batten siding for depth and texture.
To tie everything together, we painted the fascia and gutters black to match the new front door and refinished the existing wood-grain soffits and beams for a polished, seamless look.
With bold yet balanced contrasts, we achieved a fresh, modern look for this home that reflected the client’s personal style.
