We visited the Lux Windows and Doors showroom and had the chance to see some of their premium windows and doors in action. A few features really stood out for their smart design, quality engineering and craftsmanship, and practical benefits for homeowners in Edmonton.

1. CLiC Privacy Glass: The Window That Instantly Adapts
CLiC privacy glass may feel futuristic, but it fits naturally into any home.
With the push of a button, the window switches from clear to private. When it’s powered, the window is completely clear. When it’s off, it becomes obscured while still letting soft daylight into the room.
Your home gets plenty of natural light without needing blinds or curtains that darken the space or clutter the aesthetic you’re after. Without blinds, the architecture and materials in the space can stand out.
The system works using a sealed glass unit with a liquid crystal layer built inside the glass. When electricity passes through it, the glass becomes transparent. When the power is off, it returns to an obscured state, which is a thoughtful feature for privacy if the power ever goes out.
This is a great option for front entries, bathrooms, or even interior windows between a bedroom and ensuite where you want light and privacy at different times.
2. The 10-Foot Pivot Door That Makes a Remarkable First Impression
Front entry doors set the tone for the entire home, and the Lux Windows 10-foot pivot door is a showstopper.
At five feet wide and ten feet tall, it brings in a huge amount of natural light and creates a welcoming entrance for hosting guests.
Despite its size, the door is surprisingly smooth and easy to operate. Instead of traditional hinges, the door rotates on a pivot point near the edge of the frame, which allows for a wider opening and gives the door its distinctive movement.
One of our favourite features is the door’s self-closing mechanism. Once you let go of the door, it slowly closes on its own in a controlled motion. Even though the door weighs several hundred pounds, it closes slowly and gently, which is great for those with limited accessibility or with kids.
You can even program the door to close at your preferred speed, anywhere from about five to fifteen seconds.
It also includes a multi-point locking system and engineered seals that perform well in Edmonton’s erratic climate.
For homes that can accommodate it architecturally, this entry door makes a bold design statement and elevates the home’s curb appeal significantly.
3. The Folding Patio Door That Opens Your Home to the Outdoors
If you want to create a stronger connection between indoor and outdoor living spaces, a folding door system is an amazing option.
