Kitchen Reconfiguration for Improved Flow
We reimagined the kitchen layout to make the space remarkable, welcoming, and tailored to the homeowners’ daily needs.
The original kitchen had a bulky corner pantry and a raised bar on the island, which are both common in older homes, but not ideal for flow or prep space. By removing those elements and reconfiguring the layout, we created room for a much larger island with better circulation throughout the space.
The layered lighting layout was also completely transformed. We installed LED strips under the cabinetry and the floating shelves, island pendants, and dimmable pot lights so the homeowners can adjust the atmosphere depending on the time of day or task at hand.
Kitchen Storage Designed Around the Homeowners’ Lifestyle
Beyond layout, we focused heavily on efficiency and everyday luxury throughout this whole home renovation.
Our client wanted less countertop clutter and more storage space, so we built a smart appliance garage for the microwave and other small appliances, like a coffee machine, complete with a safety kill switch to meet electrical code. Tucked away when not in use, these features help keep the kitchen organized and clean.
Seamless Quartz Backsplash for a Clean, Elevated Kitchen
One of the standout features in this kitchen is the full-height quartz backsplash. Running the same quartz from countertop to upper cabinets creates a clean, seamless look and it’s a breeze to maintain. Unlike tile, there are no grout lines to scrub or discolour, which makes it ideal for busy family kitchens.
We matched the veining to flow beautifully across the surfaces and extended the quartz behind the floating shelves for added durability and design cohesion.
This small detail adds visual polish and ties the entire kitchen together.
Ensuite Transformation with a Dual Vanity and Spacious Shower
The original ensuite layout included a single-sink vanity, a bulky corner tub, and a closed-in shower with a dropped ceiling, which was common in many 1980s and 1990s homes, but not ideal for modern living.
To create a brighter, more open bathroom, we reconfigured the entire layout. We added a luxurious freestanding soaker tub and a spacious walk-in shower, separated by a functional pony wall topped with glass. The pony wall also gave us the perfect place to mount the tub faucet and temperature controls, creating a clean, streamlined look.
These changes dramatically improved how the space feels and works day to day, now it’s open, inviting, and much more practical for both homeowners to use at once.
Custom Vanity Upgrades for Everyday Luxury
Once we made space for a larger vanity, we installed thoughtful storage upgrades throughout that elevate everyday use.
We installed an 8-foot vanity with double under-mount sinks and custom cabinetry, providing plenty of counter space and storage. Inside, pull-out drawers and hidden organizers designed for hot tools and daily essentials keep everything tidy, accessible, and easy to use.
A Reclaimed Wood Fireplace Mantle
Sometimes the most remarkable design elements are reused or sustainable.
In this case, we repurposed a reclaimed piece of timber as the fireplace mantle. This wood has a long history that now adds richness and character to the living room.
The fir beam came from the original 1925 Manning Grain Elevator, was used in a timber frame pavilion in a design competition, then became a mantle in another home. Now, it lives on in this beautiful fireplace surround.
