Spa-Like Small Bathroom Inspiration

Looking for those spa-like vibes but have a small bathroom? Check out this spa-like small bathroom for inspiration. Custom tilework, curbless shower and other unique touches make this bathroom stand out.

Let’s talk about renovating a small bathroom. In this recent renovation, we had an objective to create a spa-like feel in a bathroom that was really small. Previously this bathroom only had a walk-in shower, a toilet and a pedestal sink. First of all, we enlarged its footprint, which did take a fair bit of work to move over a lot of the mechanical and plumbing. But then we had this footprint that was still restricted. So we needed to reconfigure the layout to fit all the features our clients dreamed of in this space. When you’re planning your bathroom renovation, especially in a smaller space, here are some things to think about.

Fixtures

First, think about your fixtures. What do you need? In this case, we wanted to have a freestanding soaker tub. So we really had to look at what models were available, what sizes they were, and how they would work in this space. Would they be practical for the client? The client also wanted a curbless shower with a bench, so we needed to decide what size of bench to use.

Layout

Once we had the fixtures we wanted to use, we had to decide how to lay them out in an efficient way. One thing we needed to watch for in this space was the shower door—would it swing into the toilet or get in the way of movement in the bathroom? We needed to plan all the door openings.

We also needed to look at storage. This was addressed in the vanity design, but also we addressed it with these niches over the tub that we built in to help hold shampoo bottles, toiletries, and things that you might want to access while using the tub or shower. So these are things to consider when laying out the space to maximize your storage and the flow within the space.

Finishing Touches

Then you have your finishing touches to make it beautiful! This is what truly added the spa-like feel into this bathroom, and brought it to another level! Take a look at all this custom tile work. And the lighting details that we have in here.

We have a nice curbless shower, which gives a really nice feel for use. These little things really help to maximize the use of the space and really provide a great punch. So always think about the planning of these finishing touches from the get-go.
