The Art of Renovation: Using Repurposed Material to Make Your Custom Renovation Unique

Welcome to the first episode of The Art of Renovation with Paul Foster, a new home renovation vlog from Contact Renovations.

In our first episode we went live at the Ritchie Market in Edmonton to talk about how using repurposed material can enhance the look and feel of your home.

Think Outside the Box

Sometimes when renovating or making less dynamic changes to the look of your home, you can’t quite seem to find that perfect material to make it your dream space.

If you think outside the box and use repurposed material, you can create something really unique and add a wow-factor to your space.

A Great Conversation Piece

Taking old materials and using them in new and different ways, gives you endless options for adding that one-of-a-kind accent or feature to your home.

Using repurposed materials in your renovated space makes for a great conversation piece that you can show off to all of your friends.

Ideas to Make Your Custom Home Renovation Unique to You

In this video, I talk about a few different ideas of how you can repurpose some materials, as well as where and how you can go about getting them. You can take an old wooden door and turn it into a new table or new barn door for inside your home. Or you can get your hands on an old window frame and make a new picture frame out of it. You could even repurpose bricks from an old building while it is being demolished, and use them to create something timeless.

Give this a watch and maybe it will give you a couple of ideas that we can make come to life in your remodel!

Check out the below photos to see how we used 100% repurposed material to design and build our award winning space entitled, Wabi Sabi, at Vignettes 2018.

We are thrilled to win a 2024 CHBA Edmonton Excellence in Housing award!
